National Fitness Day – Fitness2Me means…

National Fitness Day takes place on the 23rd September 2020, and this year the theme is #Fitness2Me means … As people across the nation share what fitness means to them, highlighting that keeping physically active means something different to us all. #Fitness2Me aims to be the biggest movement in breaking down the barriers that stop people being active, showing that fitness is for everyone! We thought we’d ask some of our staff what motivates them to keep fit, and find out their #Fitness2Me meanings. Sports Tours International CEO, and trustee of The Running Bee foundation, Chris Bird has set off on a mammoth running mission during the month of September. Chris, who last year completed the KBC Dublin Marathon, has decided to lace up the trainers once again. This time, with the aim of running 30 consecutive 5 kilometre runs in 30 days. Chris has taken on the challenge to mark a landmark anniversary for his PR Company, Bird Consultancy. On the 30 th of September, Bird will be celebrating 30 years in business. As you’re probably aware, 2020 has been an extremely difficult year for the mass participation sports industry. It’s been a year of cancellations, rollovers and refunds, with people turning instead to virtual events and challenges. However, as we look ahead to 2021, and returning to travel and to sport; we can’t wait to help you at your next event. Something to bear in mind though; due to the sheer number of people who’ve rolled over from a 2020 event to a 2021 event, there’s already a scarcity of entries for many of our trips. We want to make sure you hear about future trips with us. Tour de France 2020 – Week 1 in Brief

The long awaited 2020 edition of Le Tour de France is now underway. Rescheduled from July, due to concerns surrounding the global COVID – 19 pandemic, ‘the greatest race on Earth’ kicked off on 29 th August. Stage 1 Stage 1 saw the riders tackle 3 laps of a circuit around the Cote d’Azur city of Nice. Although the race opener was somewhat overshadowed by a run of crashes in the bad weather, the 3 lap format made for an exciting viewer spectacle. As expected, the stage came to a climax with a bunch sprint on the Promenade des Anglais. It was Norwegian Alexander Kristoff of Team UAE Emirates, who timed his attack to perfection. He finished ahead of Mads Pedersen (Trek Segaredo) and Cees Bol (Sunweb). The 33-year-old rider said of his victory. “I always dreamt about wearing the yellow jersey and now it’s a dream come true.” Stage 2 Stage 2 saw the first real climbing of this year’s Tour de France. The route featured ascents of La Colmiane, Col de Turini, and Col d’ Eze. It was o
