JD Gyms City of Preston 10k is a huge hit!

The inaugural JD Gyms City of Preston 10k descended upon the city centre streets of Preston on Sunday September 30th with over 2,000 entrants seen across the 10k race and Family Fun Run.

After rumours of the race ceasing after the 2017 edition, Sports Tours International decided to bring it back for 2018 with a bang on Sunday September 30th with record numbers in the 10k. The race started and finished on Market Street with a route that took runners into the beautiful Avenham Park to take in the countryside scenery around the River Ribble, before coming back through the park and back onto Market Street to finish in front of the many spectators.

Kevin Harmer, UK Events & Sponsorship Manager of Sports Tours International said:

“We are delighted with how the event went, we’ve had nothing but positive comments from runners and spectators alike. We have spent nearly one full year preparing for this one day, but the help of Preston City Council and a number of other key partners and sponsors it came together perfectly. The volunteers and spectators from the local area were also a real credit to the city and we applaud them as much as we do all of the runners”.

Danny Petricco, Manager of JD Gyms Preston said:

“The JD Gyms City of Preston 10K was a fantastic event and we are proud to sponsor such a successful race day. It was great to see so many people, including many JD Gyms Preston members, run on the day and we look forward to welcoming participants into the gym with their free 7 day pass!

The male race was won by Chris Livesey representing Salford Harriers in an impressive time of 33m38s followed by Robert Affleck in second on 34m06s and third place went to Ben Swarbrick with a time of 35m57s.
