Below you will find a rundown of the travel packages with guaranteed entries to new events we are offering for 2019.  Especially of interest are our new VIP and hospitality experiences to give our customers access to an unrivalled selection of cycling hospitality in 2019.

UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Bogense, Denmark – February 2019

The 2019 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships are the World Championship for cyclo-cross for the season 2018–19. These are scheduled to be held in Bogense in Denmark on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 February 2019.

We are pleased to provide standard or VIP access tickets for the 2 days of racing. Either dress up warm and cheer on the riders from the sidelines or make use of our VIP hospitality at the finish area where you will see the riders come past a few times in comfort. To be right in the heart of things you can also make use of the hospitality and then walk across to a vantage point of your choice when the racing is on.

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad – February 2019

The Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is the traditional season opener for the Flemish cobbled cycling season as well as the UCI cycling World Tour as a whole. In 2018 the route was changed to honour the former finale of the Tour of Flanders, including the iconic hills of Muur van Geraardsbergen and Bosberg. The start is in Ghent and the finish will be in the town of Ninove.

Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne

The Belgian spring classic Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne takes place on the day after the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad so Sunday 3 March, 2019. The KBK Cyclo takes place on the Sunday whilst the Omloop does the reverse which gives you either 2 days of taking part in cyclo sportives or watching pro cycling 2 days in a row.

Haute Route Oman – March 2019

From 1-3 March 2019 Haute Route Oman will take riders on a 238km route that will include climbs with an elevation gain totalling 5,248 metres. The centre-piece of the Haute Route Oman experience will be the magnificent Al Hajar mountain range and the iconic Jebel Akhdar (the Green Mountain), one of the country’s most spectacular locations. The Hajar mountains offer severe and scenic climbs which are every bit the equal of anything in the Alps, Pyrenees, Rockies or Dolomites. Conditions in March will offer ideal mid to low 20°C temperatures.

Set to take place from 1-3 March 2019, the inaugural Haute Route Oman is the perfect opportunity to get away for some warm winter riding!

Gent Wevelgem – March 2019

Gent Wevelgem is one of the traditional season openers for the Flemish cobbled cycling season as well as the UCI cycling World Tour as a whole. The start is in the town of Deinze near Ghent and the finish will be in the town of Wevelgem. The weekend of events includes a Cyclo for amateur cyclists to take part in on the Saturday and a whole host of activities around the professional race on the Sunday.

The day before the professionals, amateur cyclists will take the start of the 2019 cycling season for thousands of riders on the Gent Wevelgem Cyclo. After a long hibernation this will represent the biggest test of the year for many cycling enthusiasts. There will be 4 distances on offer so there is a challenge for every level of cyclist.

Flemish Cycling Week – March/ April 2019 

Spend 10 days with us in Flanders and enjoy Flemish Cycling Week with Gent Wevelgem followed by Dwars door Vlaanderen mid-week and finally the Tour of Flanders. Hotels in Kortrijk and Ghent are included as well as staff support, in-resort transport and the option to ride Gent Wevelgem and Tour of Flanders Cyclo-Sportives.

Flemish Cycling Week was created when the semi-Classic ‘Dwars door Vlaanderen’ was moved a week later on the UCI World Cycling Tour last year to position it mid-week in between Gent Wevelgem and the Tour of Flanders. The week starts off with Gent Wevelgem which is one of the traditional season openers for the Flemish cobbled cycling season as well as the UCI cycling World Tour as a whole. Dwars door Vlaanderen is contested mid-week on the Wednesday and the week culminates with the Tour of Flanders.

Gran Fondo Nove Colli – May 2019

The Nove Colli Gran Fondo is one of Italy’s original and oldest Gran Fondo events. The Gran Fondo of the 9 hills takes place in and around Cesenatico on the Adriatic coast, also known as the place where Marco Pantani grew up and trained. The event is tough with a distance of 205km to be conquered and 3800 metres of climbing across, you have guessed it; 9 hills. The shorter 130km distance takes you across 4 hills.

Our weekend travel package includes airport transfers from Bologna airport, the services of our bike guide and mechanic plus a 4 star hotel with breakfasts and evening meals included. There will be a secure area for you to store your bike and meal times are in line with the event. You will stay in a room with sea view and you can even make use of the private beach!

Tour Transalp – June 2019

The 2019 Tour Transalp starts in Innsbruck on Sunday 23 June and finishes in Riva del Garda on Saturday 29 June, 2019. The concept of the Tour Transalp is: 7 consecutive timed stages with a number of legendary cols, minimal flat sections, mountain top finishes where possible, maximum length timed sections, individual timing and all climbs timed.

Previously open to just teams of two, you can now ride the Tour Transalp as a single rider. Separate classifications are published at the end of every day

The fascinating alpine crossing is the absolute highlight for every amateur racing cyclist. „Riding the TOUR Transalp once in a lifetime“ is for many cyclists a bucket list achievement for which they must train and prepare themselves. Apart from the individual sporting challenge, the fun and camaraderie, the stunning scenery and the team spirit are the main attractions.

Monuments Week – Ride all 5 in a week – June 2019

The Five Monuments of cycling of Milan-San Remo, Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix, Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Il Lombardia represent the five biggest one day races in the cycling calendar. We are excited to give you the opportunity to ride every kilometer of these prestigious races in one fully supported trip. Our experienced Sports Tours International team of drivers, bike mechanics and soigneur will ensure that you enjoy the best support in the business.

Sports Tours International are the King of the Classics and we are official travel partners of the 3 Grand Tours and the 5 Monuments of Cycling. We know a thing or two about supporting amateur cyclists to take on the toughest events in Pro cycling and in 2019 we want to showcase all we have learned in our brand new Monuments Week. Over a period of 10 days in June we are excited to give you the opportunity to ride the 5 cycling Monuments of Milan-San Remo, Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix, Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Il Lombardia represent the 5 biggest one day races in the cycling calendar.

We will start off with the Gran Fondo version of the longest one-day race on the UCI calendar, the Milan San Remo. After this we will tackle the ‘race of the falling leaves’ Il Lombardia before we will travel north on our rest day on day 3 of the challenge. We will then ride Liege Bastogne Liege followed by the Tour of Flanders. After another rest day, we ride the final classics, the infamous Hell of the North, Paris-Roubaix.

UCI Road World Championships in Yorkshire – September 2019

The UCI Road World Championships is road cycling’s annual greatest sporting event. To be Road Cycling World Champion and wear the coveted UCI rainbow jersey is something every professional cyclist dreams of. In September 2019, the cycling mad county of Yorkshire will play host to the UCI Road World Championships. The world’s best cyclists will come to the UK and there will be a range of men’s and women’s races, across age groups from junior to elite, starting in different towns and cities throughout Yorkshire and each finishing in the main competition town of Harrogate.

Harrogate is where you will see most of the action. Both of our hotels are in the centre within walking distance of all the action. Below is what you will see during the weekend.

  • Friday 27 September – Women Junior Road race – you will see the race finish in Harrogate
  • Friday 27 September – U23 Men Road Race – 3 laps in Harrogate plus the race finish
  • Saturday 28 September – Women`s Elite Road Race – 3 laps in Harrogate plus the race finish
  • Sunday 29 September – Men’s Elite Road Race – 7 laps of the tough and technical Harrogate circuit

The 2018 UCI Road Cycling World Championships were held in Innsbruck, Austria and after Peter Sagan took a historic third World Championship the previous year, it was evergreen Spanish hero Alejandro Valverde who took the rainbow stripes in Innsbruck in 2018.

It will be the first time that Britain has hosted the UCI Road World Championships since 1982 and Yorkshire is aiming to deliver the most inclusive, innovative and inspiring Road World Championships in the history of the UCI. The county of Yorkshire has a growing global reputation for cycling after hosting the ‘Grand Départ’ of the 2014 Tour de France and the annual legacy race the Tour de Yorkshire which has continued to grow each year, with record breaking spectator numbers.

Italian Autumn Classics Week – October 2019

As official tour operator to the Italian Autumn Classics, Sports Tours International offer you the chance to ride the Colle delle Finestre then ride and watch Milano-Torino, Gran Piemonte and the final monument of the season, Il Lombardia before riding the course yourself during the official Gran Fondo Il Lombardia. Well-located hotels, transport and the services of our cycling guides are all included with your tour. Also available are fantastic hospitality and VIP race access options on all 3 events which can be booked as stand-alone experiences without the tour package.

Simon Warren is the author of the 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs series of books and he has been on a few of our tours over the years. We are pleased to welcome Sports Tours International Cycling Ambassador Simon Warren as your host on our Italian autumn classics tour.

Taiwan KOM Challenge – October 2019

The Taiwan KOM Challenge is a 105km road race and one of the toughest one day cycling challenges which starts at sea level and climbs pretty much continuously up to Taiwan’s highest road pass at 3,275 metres. The field is limited to 600 riders and past winners include former Giro d’Italia and Tour de France winner Vincenzo Nibali and 2010 time trial world champion Emma Pooley. 2019 Taiwan KOM Challenge 4 or 6 night duration tours with guaranteed entry, hotels, staff support and transport are now available with Sports Tours International.

The elite and professional men’s and women’s fields start together in a mass-start with a 15km neutral section. The 105km route then passes through the Taroko Gorge, and climbed to Taiwan’s highest passable road apex atop Route 14A to Wuling Pass. The route begins at sea level on the eastern coast and then takes riders up to 3,275 metres. In 2018 600 sportive riders conquered the Taiwan KOM Challenge. The line-up for this year’s race included Team CCC’s Laurens ten Dam in the men’s category, while the women’s category boasted Mitchelton-Scott’s Lucy Kennedy and Emma Pooley who also won in 2017 and 2016 when she said that it was her “hardest single day on a bike”.
