Haute Route Mexico test event

The Haute Route Mexico is a brand new event that will take place on October 18th to 20th 2019. I was invited to take part in the Test Event by Sports Tours International as we continue our connection with the Haute Route and look to support the spectacular events they run. Having been involved with Sports Tours International since 2013 and after riding several Haute Routes myself I was interested to see how this new event would compare and what it could offer to adventurous cyclists who are looking for a new location and a new challenge to test their legs. For a rider more used to cycling at between 200 to 300 metres of altitude in a north European climate there were two very obvious challenges which hit me about riding in Mexico. Washington, D.C. is one of the world’s most famous cities. Home of the United States Government, The White House, and many more famous memorials. Every year we take runners of all levels to this iconic city to compete in the Marine Corps Marathon. This race allows you to run through Washington, D.C. and see many of the monuments along the way. A fascinating and unique atmosphere is generated at this race. The race doesn’t offer prize money, instead, the race focuses around the core values of community spirit! Pride and honour are so important, which is why the race is also known as ‘The People’s Marathon’.  creating an atmosphere unlike any other. We recently took hundreds of runners and their families to Berlin for the Generali Berlin Half Marathon. This half marathon allows runners to run through the heart of one of Europe’s major and most historic cities. On Saturday 23 March, the first of the 5 Monuments and the first big race of the year took place. La Primavera as it’s sometimes called heralds the start of the Spring Classics season. The road cycling professionals start from the streets of Milan, Italy and take on the longest Monument of the Pro cycling calendar. Milan-Sanremo covers a nearly 300K route from the city of Milan to the palm trees and beaches of the Italian Riviera. Our Irish Team Tell Us All You Need To Know About The KBC Dublin Marathon

Martin Joyce, founder of Sports Travel International, which joined the Sports Tours International family of companies in 2018, talks us through his home town marathon, the KBC Dublin Marathon. So over to you Martin “Ah Dublin, city of pubs and vibrant nightlife, literary and architectural wonders, warm hospitality – and a superb marathon on the last Sunday of October every year” The 40th KBC Dublin Marathon on 27 October will be extra special too. So special that it sold out more than ten months in advance when the limit of 21,000 was reached. But Sports Tours International has an allocation of guaranteed places with a variety of hotel packages so we can get you to the start line! The course is open for 7 hours. Walkers are welcome and start behind the runners at the same time. There are no shorter events on the day, nor is there a Friendship Run the previous day. It is a top quality marathon and that’s it.
