Simon Warren talks UCI Cycling Road World Championships Sportive

Bestselling author of the 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs and Sports Tours International Cycling Ambassador, Simon Warren, has developed many years of experience in riding and reviewing some of the world’s best climbs, routes and races. In this blog we tap into Simon’s knowledge about the UCI Cycling Road World Championships Sportive and you can learn what to expect in Harrogate this forthcoming September. So, over to Simon…. For the first time since 1982 the Road World Cycling Championships are returning to Britain, to Yorkshire the unofficial home of British cycling. This time round though things are a whole lot different and the county of Yorkshire has pulled out all the stops to showcase its natural wonders and create a series of demanding and beautiful parcours. This year, an

We it’s nearly that time again for Paris-Roubaix and we are starting to get very excited, so we thought we’d update our tips from last year about surviving the cobbles Living “up North” in England I’ve ridden cobbles plenty of times, before I ever decided to attempt the Paris Roubaix Challenge  in 2016. Most of my experience has been on cobbled climbs in or around Halifax. Trooper Lane in Halifax. More  Koppenberg, than Arenberg. Shibden Wall, Trooper Lane and Gibb lane are really more suited to practice for Flanders, rather than Paris-Roubaix. Climbing on slippy cobbles is definitely easier than riding slippy flat cobbles at time-trial speeds, so it was fair to say, that I was quite nervous the first time I hit the Paris – Roubaix Cobbles. I arrived in Roubaix a couple of days before the event, so rather than just spinning the legs I decided to take “the unknown” out of the event, by riding the cobbles beforehand. I planned a route on the normal roads straight to the Troupe d’ A

Here at Sports Tours International we are mad about the one day classics and we couldn’t wait for the cycling season to get on the way again in 2019. We came straight from the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium to Tuscany for what we consider to be one of the highlights of the entire year, the fabulous Strade Bianche. 2019 UCI World Tour review Our Cycling Guides and Pro Mechanics Howard McAlpine and Ed Beckmann share their experience at the 2019 Strade Bianche Friday 8 th  March 19’ – Arrival Day As part of our service, we provide airport transfers from Pisa airport. Unfortunately as the week ahead of the event went on, it appeared that a national general strike was planned in Italy on 8 March which meant that air travel was disrupted. On the schedule today was a collection from Pisa airport and collect all our customers. We knew that today we’d be in a bit of bother as some of our customers were struggling to get their flights re-scheduled. Some quick thinking and liaising with
