A BIG thank you from our Race Director

Its July already, so I thought I would say a massive ‘Thank You’ for supporting our races and making them so special so far this year. This also gives me the perfect opportunity to update you on our UK Events to date and those we have coming up!

Check out my update below. I look forward to seeing you in the future and would like to wish you the very best of luck in your training! Race Director, Graham

June – Tour of Tameside

This year was the most successful since we revived this historic event in 2015, with more participants, supporters, sponsors and partners than every were involved this June. The original Tour of Tameside ran for 20 consecutive year and was founded by Dr. Ron Hill O.B.E.

It was great to see some old faces returning plus many new runners accepting ‘The Ultimate Running Challenge’. Many people tasted the event by running one of the individual days in 2015 or 2016 and then caught the bug, and decided to take on the four days this year – and they all loved the experience! Of course, Stage 4 of the Tour this year was named after Dr Ron himself and it was great to see a few ‘Ron lookalikes’ running the 7 Mile route, with a stick on handle bar moustache and string vest!

We do listen to your feedback and this year we added the ‘Burger and Beer’ element that was so prevalent in the original tour events with Hyde-based Tweed Brewery being a welcome sight to everyone on all four stages. Runners are now engaging with the Tour more so than ever, even using it as an opportunity to ‘come home’ and visit their family and friends in Tameside. This resulted in runners from as far away as Australia, Germany, Canada and China coming over the for the multi day running event. We were also delighted to again work with a number of key partners who all contributed massively to its success, including the likes of Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, New Charter Housing Group, Kerry Foods, Davies Sports, Active Tameside, Macmillan Cancer Support, Hyde Rotary Club and many more.

Having received your feedback we have decided that the Tour of Tameside 2018 will stay at 4 days and these specific details will be announced very soon. In the meantime, if you wish to join the 2018 waiting list, then please send us an email HERE >>>

July – UKFast We Love Manchester 10k

The Etihad Campus, home of Manchester City Football Club is always a superb venue to start and finish this well known and well supported race. A hot sunny Sunday saw Mohammad Aburazeq defending his Men’s title along with over 2,400 other runners – all crossing the line in fine fashion, further enhancing the races’ reputation for being ‘The Peoples Race’. Runners old and new came together to support not only the official event charity partner, the We Love Manchester Charity but also those good causes that were personal to them. With one pound in every entry going direct to the We Love Manchester Charity and funds raised through donations in the car park and the bag drop, the total figure is expected to be in excess of £4000, which will help to support a number of local good causes in Manchester. The ever popular Toddler Trot brought the curtain down on a magnificent day, with around 200 children under the age of 8 years old completing impressively one lap of the track.
