Stacey Copeland talks Tameside

Image
With only four weeks to go until the Tour of Tameside I was excited to attend the Talk of the Tour event last week. I have never been before and it was great to see all the memorabilia, footage, and meet some amazing runners and long-time supporters of the tour. As a resident of Tameside I am passionate about the tour as I know what a fantastic event it is for our borough, and I am very proud to be an ambassador for the company who has brought it back! I think an obvious highlight of the evening was listening to the inspirational Ron Hill as he shared stories from his racing days and talked about how the Tour first began. I think Tameside is a great place to live for those who like to run, we are a short distance from the city centre so large scale running events in Manchester are easily accessible, but we’re also surrounded by countryside and great places to run right on our doorstep. I run every morning before work and it sets me up for the day both mentally and physically, in fact

Here at Sports Tours International we love marathon running and we are very proud to have acquired over 40 years of experience of taking runners all over the world to participate in some of the world’s best marathon events. Sometimes members of our team like to get their trainers on and experience one of the world’s best marathons for themselves. This blog focuses on one of our very own, Simon, who got his running kit on and ran the 2018 Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris. ” I stayed in the 4* Hotel Mercure which was a great hotel, set in a traditional Parisian building that had recently been refurbished in a modern style. The hotels buffet breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The journey to the expo to register took about 40 minutes by metro, which included a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower as you cross the River Seine. You could have easily spent all day at the expo if you had wanted, they had a great range of running gear, merchandise and memor

Walking Tour of Tameside

The Tour of Tameside each year is developing into much more than a running event. Volunteers, local residents cheering on the runners, school children studying elements of the race and local businesses are engaging all the time and in 2018 we are delighted to be working with Live Well & Active Tameside on the Walking Tour of Tameside. Nayereh Kelly, Active Tameside’s Live Active Community Activator has planned four entry level walking routes, which vary in duration and location in and around the race days themselves, on June 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th. The main objective is enjoying the lovely surroundings, a bit of low level exercise and making friendships”. There is no need to book onto these walking events, you can simply turn up and Nez will be there to welcome you and accompany yo
