Our marathon heroes

Karen, Candice and Julie from our office all successfully completed the London Marathon this year. Candice and Julie have shared their experiences with us below: Candice – First time Marathoner  Candice’s story is testament to her commitment to following a good training plan and as a result being rewarded on race day. “London was my first ever Marathon! For the last 16 weeks I have been training with my friend/work colleague Karen we have been on such a journey. Each Sunday we would meet for our weekly big run although some runs would go to plan others however did not, one of my most memorable moments has to be our last 20 miler where we set off to Timperley and end up getting lost and arriving into Manchester City Centre and having to get a taxi back to our cars!! 121st Boston Marathon April 17th 2017 An American Classic and an Abbott World Marathon Major The Boston Marathon ranks as one of the world’s most prestigious road races. It is the world’s oldest annual marathon and is described as the pinnacle event within the sport of road racing by virtue of its traditions, longevity and method of gaining entry into the race (via a high standard qualification). Runners everywhere strive to qualify for Boston. Any Boston finisher will tell you it’s an experience a runner never forgets and our clients at Sports Tours International are no exception! Things you might not know about running Boston Marathon 1. You have to qualify to run Boston The first reason Boston is so unique is that it’s a qualified race. In other words, in order to register for the race, you must have already run a marathon at a particular (relatively fast) pace. The Boston qualifying standard drives many people throughout their careers as a mark of achievement. But while the B

The 178km event will start in Briancon and finish on the Col d’Izoard. Jo will be the first ever female track Olympian to take on the toughest stage of Le Tour. Jo has kindly promised to share her journey with us as she prepares for her longest ride.   Jo’s April Training Diary As I write this blog we are now less than 3 months away from the Etape du Tour on 16 th July. A 178km ride in the Alps following the route of the men’s Tour de France stage 18. It seemed like a great idea when I signed up to it! However reality is now kicking in that I will need to do some training. In case you missed it, on 14 th March I announced my retirement from the Great Britain Cycling Team. It was an incredibly hard decision but ultimately I have achieved everything possible, there is nothing higher than

Whether it’s the allure of Spring, the flowering wisteria, the quaint cafes, the cobbled streets, the world famous land marks that will make you dizzy, you will experience all of this and more! The 26.2 mile route cuts an impressive swath through the finest of Paris, and in the Spring! Need I say more? The energy surrounding the lead up to the marathon was palpable! On the Thursday before the race, I met Clement, our French based representative. We ironed out some of the finer details in preparation of the runners. We scouted the Expo, got the lay of the land and were very impressed by the great venue. It’s perhaps one of the best! The wide aisles and well organized lay out showcased running apparel, nutritional products, and many of the latest international marathons. There was even a chance to
