Kevin Harmer, UK Events & Sponsorship Manager said; “Sports Tours International are delighted to be working with Alder Hey Children’s Charity this coming October. For the Charity to have its very own 10k run and Family Fun Run, it makes them even more unique by encouraging fundraisers to have fun, keep fit and raise money at the same time. The children, young adults and families the charity helps 365 days a year are a real inspiration and if the Alder Hey 10k can help to continue that good work then, Sports Tours International will be extremely proud to help”.

Cath Harding, Head of Community Fundraising at Alder Hey Children’s Charity said; “Alder Hey Children’s Charity are delighted to be working in partnership with Sports Tours International, we can’t wait to welcome runners and families to Croxteth Hall and Country Park on the 8th October for the Alder Hey 10K. The event will enable Alder Hey Children’s Charity to raise vital funds to support the hospital’s pioneering work, to improve the quality of life for not only the young people we treat each year, but through innovations and research into childhood diseases, the quality of life for children across the world.”

On race day there will be an officially measured and chip timed 10k run as well as a Family Fun Run. Alongside the running, the Athlete Village will provide visitors with lots of activities and attractions as well as Croxteth Hall and Country Park providing a perfect venue for such an event.

Croxteth Hall and Country Park is one of Liverpool’s most important heritage sites, and is home to a real working farm, Victorian Walled Garden and 500 acre nature reserve. With such an impressive venue as the backdrop for the Alder Hey 10k, runners and spectators will be able to enjoy the whole site and make it a real family day out in support of the charity.

Since it’s inception in 2014, the race previously known as The Grand 10k at Aintree Racecourse and The Merseyside 10k has rapidly grown in its popularity, with over 1,400 participants registered for the event in 2016.
