We have just received an update from New York Road Runners (NYRR) who have informed us that they are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of everyone involved with the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon this weekend. They are monitoring the situation closely with their city, state and federal agency partners and the local law enforcement agencies.  The safety and security of all runners, staff, volunteers, and spectators is their top priority and they are constantly reviewing plans with local law enforcement agencies and will consider any necessary modifications or enhancements. They have confirmed that all race week activities will continue as planned. One of the hottest talking points in elite marathon running right now is can a sub two hour marathon be achieved. It’s a question that has got the entire running industry talking. The current world record holder is Dennis Kimetto of Kenya, who on September 28, 2014, at the Berlin Marathon ran a time of 2:02:57. Emphasising how difficult sub two hours is going to be. To go sub two hours would be an unbelievable effort to shave three minutes off the current world record and would give the runner legendary status. Three days after the route was officially announced Ed took on the Etape du Tour Route. First thing first- A little more about Ed Nicoll… Ed Nicoll is a French based Cyclist, Runner, Triathlete and Cross Country skier. After serving in the British Army, Ed competed for Great Britain in the Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada in 1988 and the Nordic Ski World Championships in 1991 and 1993 Ed also toured the World Biathlon circuit as a professional Cross Country skier. Ed was Head Coach and World Cup team Leader of the Great Britain Biathlon Team with responsibilities including physical and technical preparation of athletes for selection in international competitions. In this role he was also responsible for organisation and logistical arrangements for National Team on World Cup circuit. Ed was National Team Manager Mountain Biking, WCPP, British Cycling Federation, Manchester, GB where he was responsible for the performance and direction of athletes and staff for all major competitions.

The famous 4 day running event, the Tour of Tameside is back for 2018, with prices frozen from 2017! The multi-day running event that was brought back to Tameside in 2015 is proving to be one of the most important events in the North West running calendar and as so, Sports Tours International are delighted to honour the 2017 entry prices for the 2018 edition. This October’s Dreams Come True Halloween Fun Run at Heaton Park is delighted to be working with a number of Decathlon Sports stores across the North West. Fantastic Day – Celebrating Alder Hey! On Sunday October 8th, Croxteth Hall & Country Park played host to the first ever Alder Hey 10k & Family Fun Run, where over 1,000 runners and spectators were welcomed. UK Events & Sponsorship Manager at Sports Tours International, Kevin Harmer said: “This was our first ever event at Croxteth Hall & Country Park and we are delighted with the feedback from those who took part, with so many people from Merseyside and beyond coming together in support of Alder Hey Children’s Charity .” The Alder Hey 10k route took runners on a course which showcased all of the Park’s most interesting spaces, such as the start location beside St Marys Church at West Derby Village, running through the Croxteth Hall Lane Underpass, past Croxteth Hall itself before taking on the forest sections and looping along two long straights, which collectively tested runners of all ability levels.
