Here at Sports Tours International we take thousands of runners, all over the world, each year, as they fulfil lifelong dreams, and take on various running challenges. None of these however quite compare to the TCS New York City Marathon. The race, organised by the brilliant team at New York Road Runners, goes through the 5 famous boroughs of New York City. Starting in Staten Island, before venturing through Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, before finishing in the iconic Central Park in Manhattan. With over 53,000 finishers, and over a million people lining the streets of “The Big Apple”, it’s fair to say our runners experienced one hell of an atmosphere on their trip. The partnership will enable and encourage women who want to harness the positive power of women supporting women, to invigorate and celebrate a once of a lifetime trip through togetherness. “In 2019, just 7% of the 16,000 starters at the L’Etape du Tour were women. We want to change this and increase the number of female participants to 10% over the next 3 years”, said Mel Berry, founder of Her Spirit. Here at Sports Tours International we take people all over the world to experience the world’s best running, cycling and triathlon events. We’ve been doing this for over 45 years and we’ve met some incredible people along the way. So we are obviously very proud when someone who we’ve worked with receives international recognition for the work they’ve done within the sports travel industry. We are delighted that our great friend, Kenneth Gasque, has been inducted into the IRONMAN Hall of Fame. Kenneth is world famous as the race director of IRONMAN Lanzarote and renowned for shaking the hand of every finisher who would cross the line in this amazing event.  It was Kenneth who really made a massive difference to the growth of triathlon in Europe, having originally competed in Hawaii in 1985 and having the foresight to see the potential for an IRONMAN race on the similarly volcanic island of Lanzarote.
