So you’re thinking of taking on a 7 day Haute Route Challenge in 2020?  First you have to decide which challenge to take on; Alps or Pyrenees? Ok so you’ve sorted that out, but you’re not sure who to book with. Is it best to go direct and book a package with Haute Route themselves, or is there something extra that tour operators and travel partners, such as us, here at Sports Tours International, can offer you to make your once in a lifetime cycling experience, even more unforgettable?

So, below is our handy guide, to show you exactly how we measure up to booking direct, and how, we feel, our travel packages can give you more out of your Haute Route experience.

The price

The entry fee will be the same for you, both by booking with us or booking directly with the Haute Route.

Our price, for our expertly supported travel package is £1599 for accommodation in a shared twin room, with a £300 pound supplement for single occupancy. In contrast to this Haute Route offer a shared twin for £1149 with a £600 supplement for single occupancy, which is, admittedly less but we think the personalised experienced we offer, makes this more than worth it and there are ways to bring the costs down too!

Discounts for booking your entry with us and a discount if you are bringing a non- riding partner

Sports Tours International pride themselves on offering tours that are engaging and enjoyable for both participants and spectators at events. As well as offering advice for spectators on where to watch etc, we are pleased to offer a £250 DISCOUNT for all non- riding partners attending the 2020 Haute Route Alps or Pyrenees, and a £200 DISCOUNT on your Haute Route entry fee, when bought in conjunction with our travel packages.

What this means for riders bringing loved ones with them to Haute Route is, that booking for yourself, and your significant other, directly through Haute Route, it would cost you approximately €4574, whereas through Sports Tours you could get the same Race experience, plus our additional aid stations, mechanic services, evening meals and drinks at the hotel, and all our personal touches for just an additional €26!

Our cycling hosts and mechanics

Sports Tours International have extensive experience on many of the world’s most high profile cycling events; including the Tour de France, Etape du Tour, the Maratona dles Dolomites and the Vuelta a Espana, and have been helping sports enthusiasts, from around the world, realise their dreams since 1973! We aim to utilise this wealth of knowledge, to the full, on every tour we take, making every trip even more incredible than the last. We have been involved with the Haute Route Alps and Haute Route Pyrenees since very the first edition of the Haute Route 2011 and, over that time, have worked to hone our packages and services, to offer our guests the BEST POSSIBLE experience.

Our main guys on the Haute Route are Roy and Darrel and they have been for many years. You’ll find them looking after you again next year.

Private mechanics

Talking of mechanics, when you book through us, you have the invaluable benefit of the services of our expert support and mechanics team, who have experience providing mechanical services for professional cyclists! They can help you assemble your bike, if you have had to dismantle it for transport,and can help you with any last minute adjustments, or mid event changes that you might want to make. The services of our mechanics will also be available at our private, en route aid stations, which you can use, in addition to the on course support that comes, provided by Mavic, at the event.

The food and drinks

Very important! Our packages include breakfasts and evening meals at each hotel, so that you can enjoy a well-earned meal, at the end of each stage, with your drinks included, without having to worry about the bill at the end of the night. All of our meals have been arranged to be in fitting with event timings. During the event, we provide additional private feed and support stops every day. We provide a break from the sweet stuff and our hot coffee, tea and hot chocolate has saved many a rider through the years!!

Our private aid stations (usually 2), which you can use in addition to the Haute Route Stations on the course, offers you the chance to utilize a personalised food and clothing race bag, to cater for your specific needs each day. We will also have energy drinks, gels and bars available, as well as a veritable picnic of food options, including sandwiches, crips, and even, if the weather is less than desirable, a selection of hot drinks. In addition to our on course food and drinks we also offer, in addition to the standard post race food and massage, a private finish village area, offering snacks and drinks, and coffee.

 

The transport

To take the stress out of your transport and travel, we offer a complimentary airport transfer service, whereas, for many travel providers, this service would come as an additional extra.  Haute Route charges extra for this service as well. We also offer a private luggage transport service, between each hotel, in addition to the standard event luggage transfers, and quick, efficient, private event transfers between each stage.

We use smaller vehicles and we have a few available so rather than waiting for the main Haute Route shuttle bus, on many occassions we’ve had our riders back to their hotels a lot faster to enjoy some additional recovery time.

I have just returned last night from last week’s Haute Route Alps 2017 with Sports Tours International, and I just want to let you know what an amazing time I had throughout the whole event both on and off the bike!
