Mont Blanc Marathon – When, What, Where?

Sports Tour International is proud to announce the launch of our packages for the 2019 Mont Blanc Marathon which takes place on Sunday the 30th of June 2019. The weekend will consist of five events that include a 90km Ultra Trail and a Vertical KM on Friday (28th), a 10km and Cross 23km on Saturday (29th), before finishing with the Mont Blanc Marathon on the Sunday.

We kick-off our awesome weekend itinerary on the 28th of June, with a Mont Blanc ultra 90km, starting from the lively centre of Chamonix. The locals will be cheering the runners on, as they prepare for the ultimate challenge of a 6,220-metre vertical climb up into the Alps. On the same day, there is also the demanding task of the vertical KM. This trail is 3.8km of a pure uphill battle which will give you a strong feeling of accomplishment when you cross the finish line!
Saturday the 29th consists of the Mont Blanc Cross 23km (8:30am) and the ever-popular Mont Blanc 10km (9am) – both races will start on the landing paragliders before venturing off into a scenic route with either race, both will be a tough one on your legs!

We end the weekend with the Mont Blanc Marathon which starts at 7am in the centre of Chamonix – the locals love coming out to support this one! The trail gathers 2,511-metres in elevation and 1,490-metres on the downhill, finishing with a 2,016-metre altitude. Enjoy some picturesque views during your run and soak in an experience that will live long in your memory.

Have a taste of Chamonix Trail Running – with less training!

The Mont Blanc Marathon isn’t the only running event that Chamonix witnesses during a calendar year, they also hold the UTMB, which is taking place this weekend. The UTMB holds a series of racing events that are very challenging.
Runners will come across steep terrains, long ascents and descents, altitudes above 2,600m and even glaciers with a risk of sliding. Some of the UTMB races will require years of training, even for the most advanced and skilled runners.
The Mont Blanc Marathon is, therefore, a great opportunity to experience some trail running in France, without having to train for a gruelling 100-miler. The Mont Blanc trails really are something to behold, go forth into the French Alps and experience a running challenge on a whole other level.

Trail Running – Join the Trend!

Trail running has certainly experienced a real rise in participants in the last few years, with a large influx of new runners taking to nature’s trails every day. When you run, you run to be free, so what better route to take than the natural paths outdoors?
