Going Above and Beyond with Sports Tours International – Tauny and Debbie’s Experience

“My wife and I have been very well supported by Sports Tours International for our cycling training and amateur multistage racing for many years.  Their cycling and administration teams are brilliant, efficient, friendly and above all professional.  They are hugely experienced and care for every member of the sports group regardless of ability or fitness.  Before finding STI, we used various sport companies for our overseas training and competition needs, and it is safe to say that Sports Tours International are the best by far – we have never looked back!”

How we First met Tauny and Debbie 

We first met Tauny and Debbie when they were riding at Haute Route Alps in 2014. Although they were not Sports Tours International customers at the time, that didn’t stop our team from looking out for them, and all the riders, as they faced some of the worst conditions in Haute Route history.

After they returned, they shared their story…

My wife Debbie and I would like to pass on our huge thanks to Roy, one of your team, who was working for STI at Haute Route Alps 2014.  Due to his support and kindness in the most horrendous weather conditions on the descent from Col du Madeleine, I was able to get my front tyre and tube replaced and remain in front of the broom wagon for the remainder of the race – although it was a close run thing on that day. 

But the story doesn’t end there didn’t end there, as Tauny went on to recount the further dramas of the day.

My wife was not so lucky, crashing out on the same descent, breaking her bike frame and helmet but not,  fortunately, herself.  She was unable to continue the race  however, and went to hospital.  Roy very kindly ensured that what remained of the bike was transported back to the race village.  We are both extremely grateful to him and his support – even though we were not travelling with Sports Tours International!

We have signed up for your newsletter and will hope to travel with Sports Tours International to participate in the Haute Route Alps 2015.   Thanks to Roy, you will have two new loyal customers in the future.

What happened next. 

True to his word, Tauny and Debbie have since travelled with us many times. The have become members of the Sports Tours International family and have shared many wonderful trips and memories with the team.

Not only did Tauny and Debbie travel to the Haute Route with us in 2015, but they also went on to join us at Haute Routes in 2016, 2017, and 2018. They have travelled  a further three times to train with Sports Tours at our Costa Blanca Spring Training camp (in 2017, 2018 and 2019).

We can not wait to see Tauny and Debbie again in the, hopefully not too distant, future. Here’s to many more Sports Tours International experiences to come!
