David has a magical time at the Disneyland Paris®Half Marathon Weekend.

Image
David from our Sports Tours International team traveled last weekend to the Disneyland Paris Magic Run Weekend. Find out if his trip was a dream come true.   “I decided to travel to the Disneyland Paris Magic Run weekend after my first Disney race experience earlier this year in Florida. During that first trip I instantly fell in love with the whole Disney experience of running a different race each day in a very supportive and non-competitive environment and also the mix of enjoying the attractions and recovering in a fantastic hotel when you are not racing. Therefore I decided to visit Disneyland Paris, and if I successfully managed to complete the half-marathon I would receive an additional piece of race bling, the Castle to Chateau Medal. Travelling with my wife we arrived on Friday Morning and got the fantastic Magic shuttle (which you pre-book yourself here – http://ift.tt/2wXOu1H ) “…exactly what you expect from Disney. Great entertainment, great hotels and a series of ve

Julie rides Prudential Ride London 2017

Image
The event which almost now holds legendary status after only 5 years, attracted more than 100,000 riders with 24,000 cycling the full 100 mile route. More than £30m has been raised by amateur riders since Prudential RideLondon began back in 2013, set up as part of the legacy of the London 2012 Olympics. Keen Triathlete and Cyclist Julie, from our office, completed Prudential Ride London 100, so we asked about her experience. What is your best memory from the ride? Leith Hill! It’s the highest point on the route and it’s an absolute monster! Luckily for me most of my training is done around the hills of Bolton so I knew I wouldn’t be defeated.   Actually I have to admit, that passing riders on my way up  and notifying them that i was “on your right” was a bit of a buzz! The infamous Box Hill was very easy by comparison. Did you worry about anything before the ride? Was your worry well-founded? Yes , I was worried about the amount of other riders on the road as I’d never c

Our guide to Trail Running

Image
With the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB) taking place this weekend, with arguable the best ever line-up, we have put together this guide on how you could start your own trail running adventures. Trail-running is basically off-road running. Organised or competitive trail-runs take place in natural, non-urban areas like mountains, desert, forest or plains. The aim of the race is to include as little paved road as possible. For a Marathon to be officially classed as a trail-race these sections should not exceed 20% of the total course. The terrain can vary (dirt road, forest trail, single track, open fell) and the route must be properly marked which means that the runners will receive enough information to complete the race without getting lost. That includes physical markings (flags, tapes, signs…) or GR permanent markings or GPS tracks or map indication. The race is ideally – but not necessarily – in self-sufficiency or semi self-sufficiency which means that the runner has to be aut

Madonna del Ghisallo

Image
The Madonna del Ghisallo is the mythical climb that forms the heart of perhaps the least known and least celebrated of the five monuments of cycling: The Giro di Lombardia . Set in the stunning region of Lombardy in early October, Lombardia winds around lush green climbs and stunning lakes, and is a truly spectacular race that deserves more recognition. Its autumn date has lead to it being nicknamed ‘the ride of the falling leaves’, and that romantic moniker carries across to the legendary status of the climb to the Madonna del Ghisallo. The route of Il Lombardia has varied slightly each year since its first edition in 1905. However, the one constant feature has been the Madonna del Ghisallo. It is not just this permanence that provides the climb its fame however. The chapel that lies at the top of the ascent is the point where, according to legend, the Count of Ghisallo was saved from bandits by the appearance of an image of the Virgin Mary. As a result of this, the Madonna del Ghi
