From the London 2012 Olympic games, to the historic 100th edition of the Tour de France (won by Chris Froome), there has been a lot to talk about in the world of sports over the last 10 years. From tears to triumphs, euphoria to heartbreak, it has been a decade of world beaters and world firsts, and here at Sports Tours International, we have been right at the forefront of it all. So, on the precipice of a new decade, and with more seeming possible, than ever before; here’s our rundown of 10 moments that defined the decade for Sports Tours International!  2011 Berlin Marathon Record The Berlin Marathon has always been a groundbreaking race. In recent years, it has also become well known, for its record breaking course. 11 world records (8 in the men’s race, 3 in the women’s) have been set there in the race’s 46 year history, and 4 of those coming in the last 10 years alone. However, it is the 2011 edition of the race, that stands out most sharply for us. The eagerly anticipated eve

The route of the 75th edition of the Vuelta a Espana was recently announced in Madrid. The Vuelta’s Gran Salida in Utrecht was already announced. The Dutch city becomes the first foreign venue to have now hosted stages from all the 3 Grand Tours. After the 3 stages in Holland, the 2020 Vuelta enters Spain after a travelling rest day with a stage in the Basque Country from Irun and the first uphill finish at the sanctuary of Arrate. What follows then is a series of stages in the north of Spain. The 2020 Vuelta never ventures south of Madrid throughout the entire event. Apart from the start in Holland, the Vuelta also visits France and Portugal. The Aubisque and the Tourmalet We are very excited about the stage that starts in Biescas in Spain and that takes in the Col du Pourtalet, the Aubisque and the Tourmalet. We will offer a great weekend trip to the Tourmalet stage. On Friday 22 August arrive into Toulouse airport and we’ll provide 2 airport transfers to take you to our hotel in

Christmas Came Early to Salford – At the Jingle Bee Jog 2020

Image
Sunday 24th November 2020 was a quiet, cloudy, winter morning, just like any other at Salford’s MediaCityUK, that was until hundreds of Santas (and even a couple of reindeer) took to the streets of Salford Quays, in aid of the Running Bee Foundation. The first VIP or VIR (very important Reindeer) guests to arrive were Dasher and Cupid (yes actual real reindeer, live and in the flesh). They were followed by a long list of special guests including; Fred the Red of Manchester United and Moonchester and Moonbeam, the Manchester City Football Club mascots, who entertained children and adults alike, alongside The Running Bee Foundations own Mo the Bee, who said she was, “Buzzing to have met every one”. The whole event was a real celebration of sport, active lifestyles and, of course, Greater Manchester at Christmas! By 10:15 people of all ages, abilities, and experience levels had flocked to the Mediacityuk Piazza to get in on the Fun. And among them was one very special young lady

Marriott Marquis New York Hotel Refresh 2020

Marriott Marquis Hotel refresh Jun 20-Oct 31 2020 As we approach the holiday season, we wanted to reach out to you with best wishes for the new year. We’d also like to share some very exciting news about what’s happening at the New York Marriott Marquis in 2020.  We have already begun dramatic guest room renovations and several hundred rooms have been completed.  In 2020 we have major plans for a transformation and reimagination of the hotel’s entire 8 th floor, which includes the Front Desk and our restaurants and bars.  We’ll introduce new culinary concepts, with a brand new M Club Lounge, which will make its debut on the 8 th floor in an entirely redesigned space. While this transformation should not affect your contracted meeting space or guest rooms blocked, it is a major transformation of the 8 th floor. As such, there are some public areas that will be modified while this is taking place. We wanted you to be aware of these temporary changes, to guide you accordingly. More i

OK … so I know it sounds like a cliché, but it’s true! – Winter miles, summer smiles. We caught up with Running Bee Foundation and Community Ambassador Rhianna Parkinson, as she prepares for her first long distance triathlon event, at the legendary Challenge Roth triathlon in 2020. She gave us an insight into her preseason training, and threw in some excellent advice for keeping motivated, active, and fit, as the weather gets frosty! “You just feel better. Going into a new season, knowing that you have a strong base of winter training behind you does wonders for you psychologically as well as meaning you start fit and strong. You don’t waste early races ‘warming up’. That can give you a huge advantage over a lot of the field!” So, Over to you Rhianna … What advice would you give to people to help them stay fit over winter? Train indoors! Just kidding!.. Do something Different  I always recommend mixing things up a bit. It can get a bit de-motivating, pounding the streets in the
