Remembering the good times

We know that the situation, around the world at the moment feels a little bit strange for everyone, and it feels as though normal life has been put on hold indefinitely. Maybe previously, we’ve all taken for granted just how fortunate we are to be able to conquer legendary climbs, run through the streets of iconic cities, and experience amazing events and adventures across the globe. We think that staying positive, and looking back at the good times we’ve had is a brilliant reminder that things will get better, and the good times will return in the future. So your local pool is shut, and your local sports shop is all out of home training equipment. Sound familiar? In recent weeks steepers, spin bikes, dumbbells, resistance bands and any other home gym equipments have been flying off the shelves at an alarming rate. Today, March 20 th 2020, is International Day of Happiness for 2020. At this current time of global crisis, it seems  that days such as today are particularly important. It is vital to be positive; to be hopeful; to look forward to the better times to come, and to remember that they WILL come. The world of sports is no stranger to adversity. Anyone who has ever trained for a running, cycling or triathlon event will be all too aware of the ups and downs of race preparation. From inclement weather, to illness and injury, and even, as we are facing now, event cancellations and postponements. Our community, the active community, never ceases to amaze us with its tenacity. The power of the human spirit, the drive, the determination and dedication from athletes of every level. The need to get to the finish line, no matter what, has fascinated and inspired the world for centuries. The greatest power of sport is the power to unify.
