The Gran Fondo Nove Colli will have its 50th edition in 2020 and sells 10.000 places within 20 minutes

The Gran Fondo Nove Colli is one of the oldest mass participation events for amateur cyclists in the world. The race takes place in Cesenatico on the Italian Adriatic Coast every year on the roads that Marco Pantani used to train on in his youth. The 2020 edition is extra special as the 2020 Giro d’Italia will dedicate a stage to this special cycling event. The Gran Fondo Nove Colli will effectively turn into what the Etape du Tour is for the Tour de France. Amateur riders and fans can watch the riders of the Giro d’Italia tackle the 9 hills on Stage 12 of the Corsa Rosa on Thursday, 21 May on the 205km CESENATICO to CESENATICO stage. Then just 3 days later on Sunday 24 May lucky riders who manage to get an entry can tackle the same course as the riders of the Giro just days before and ride their own Nove Colli.

The Nove Colli Gran Fondo is one of Italy’s original and oldest Gran Fondo events. In 2020 it celebrates its 50th edition. The Gran Fondo of the 9 hills takes place in and around Cesenatico on the Adriatic coast, also known as the place where Marco Pantani grew up and trained. The event is tough with a distance of 205km to be conquered and 3800 metres of climbing across, you have guessed it; 9 hills. The shorter 130km distance takes you across 4 hills.
